Concept of coming together

Hello

Welcome to the this new blog that has been created ostensibly to unite all health professionals who are passionate with teaching and learning of students. The blog seeks to unite all the community of practice ie trainers of health professionals and the managers of health training institutions.

We aim at to address the following among other things:
  • reflect on the community of practice of health professionals
  • show case what we do and what we can do
  • formulate objectives for our vision
  • develop strategies
-formation of an association
-develop a journal
- write books
- develop sustainable pillars ie networking

a now we have a template to write our book

Dr Anasthasia Kimeu of capacity building added the following:

Introduction:The community of health professions educator in Kenya was mooted by a group of trained educators of health workforce that is trained at pre-service, in-service and continuing professional develoipment levels. In addition the idea of creating a forum where educators whould share ideas and experiences in diverse health fields which students are trained in is alos an effort towards creation of a collaborative meachanism of improving how the health workforce is trained and educated. With the global crisis in helath workforce in education today, the global health workforce alliance (GHWA) has training and development of the health worforce as an aspect of its goal.

In mitigating this challenge and moving forward in realising GHWA's goal, a community of health profesions educators is an excellent of bringing diverse minds that form the specturm of important palyers in helath workforce development. The community of health professions educators will adress issues such as what role can mhealth professons educators play in meeting the current challenges in health workforce development and the human resurce manangement issues? While training alone does not mitigate all HRH challenges, a well trained and managed health workforce should be the joy of a pragmatic health professions educator and manager because results of quality training and management are realized when there is marked improvement in health outcomes of the country the health workforce serve.

The vision of COHPE is 'excellence in health workforce development'.The objectives of this forum are:1) setting an agenda for health workforce development in training and development perspective 2) developing an approach of how the COHPE's forum can stregthen health workforce development 3) creating a mechanism for sharing experiences and ideas to strengthen competencies of health professions educators; Th core values: 1) there is strength in interprofessional collaboration in health workforce development 2) diversity of ideas and experiences in helath professions educators adds value to health workforce development 3) together we can achieve more in improving health outcomes in Kenya.
I do concur with the views as stated by Dr. Kimeu.
